The notorious "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred wrote the Al Azif, or Necronomicon, also known as The Book of the Dead or The Book of The Black Earth, in Damascus.Reportedly, Alhazred was given directions on how to prepare and write the book through a mental bond with a "Demon" named Perdurabo. It was from these directions that Alhazred took human flesh and through a mysterious process dried this material and turned it into a kind of parchment-like paper. Also, he used the dried and prepared flesh of a man's head to bind the pages of the book. Then using specially prepared ink, made from human blood, he illustrated and wrote the text to the book, supposedly in the language of "The Ancient Ones".The first part of the book tells a basic history of the Ancient Ones and how the Elder Gods, when they created this,realm, as well as the other realms of creation, trapped the Ancient Ones in a dark place outside of the realms of creation. This was because the Ancient Ones felt that the Elder Gods had stolen some of their territory in the creation of the realms. Ever since, it is written, the Ancient Ones have tried to take back what is theirs.The second part of the book is devoted to ways to call upon the power of the Ancient Ones by allowing them limited access to this realm. This power can be used for personal gain, revenge, or whatever the person wants, the only draw back is that with each use of this power it weakens the barrier that keeps the Ancient Ones from coming in and devouring our realm.Since it's creation, other corrupt or ignorant people have created other versions of the book as well as written several different translations of the text. Though these books may not be as powerful as Alhazred's original, they are still powerful and dangerous.
